Community Code Final Draft Set for Council Consideration

Two and a half year effort nears completion.

Following the conclusion of the Plan Bentonville input process and release of its second draft code last fall, the Bentonville Planning Commission, City staff, and project team have spent the past several months reviewing community input and refining the Bentonville Community Code. This phase has focused on translating ideas, questions, and concerns raised during engagement into clear, workable standards, with targeted adjustments to ensure the code is both effective and implementable.

Throughout this period, the Planning Commission has continued to meet, review revisions, and provide direction, working closely with staff to ensure the draft reflects community priorities and the city’s long-term vision.

At its March 17 meeting, the Planning Commission recommended approval of the draft code, forwarding it to the March 31, 2026 City Council meeting. Following discussion and public comment, City Council recommended minor adjustments. Those revisions have now been incorporated, and the final draft is available here.

The final draft will be discussed at two upcoming public meetings in anticipation of adoption:

Planning Commission: Tuesday, April 7, 5 pm at City Hall

City Council: Tuesday, April 14, 6 pm at City Hall

Community members are encouraged to attend and participate as Bentonville moves toward adoption of the new Community Code.
